Any member of the Marine Corps League in good standing may become a Life Member by properly honoring service through the payment of the required fee as outlined in the National bylaws, Section 645, Paragraph b. Any member of the Marine Corps League in good standing may become a Life Member by properly honoring service through the payment of the required fee as outlined in the National bylaws, Section 645, Paragraph b. This process follows the procedures and application steps specified therein. To achieve life member status, detachment applicants must have been a member of the Detachment, in good standing, for a minimum of one (1) year, thereby supporting veterans in their commitment.

An honorary membership may be issued, at the discretion of the Detachment Commandant and/or the elected Board of Trustees (Officer Board), to individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary service in honoring service to the Nation, the community, the United States Marine Corps, and/or the Marine Corps League. An honorary membership may be issued, at the discretion of the Detachment Commandant and/or the elected Board of Trustees (Officer Board), to individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary service in honoring service to the Nation, the community, the United States Marine Corps, and/or the Marine Corps League. While this honorary member will not be entitled to the rights, privileges, and benefits available to regular or associate members, they will receive a suitable certificate to honor the occasion. Payment of dues or initiation fees is not required; however, such membership will not grant access to the official publications of the Marine Corps League. A membership card certificate will be available from National Headquarters, supporting veterans through recognition of their contributions.
